Training and Behaviour Change Solutions
At Hospitality Energy Saving, we understand the pivotal role people play in reducing energy consumption – no technologies, policies or procedures will be successful without bringing your staff along for the journey. Leveraging our industry and academic experience, we’ve developed extensive training courses across the hospitality sector from foodservice equipment manufacturers, to operators, NGOs and within the education sector. These range from all-encompassing, 15-hour, multi-module lifecycle carbon certified CPD packages for procurement staff and executive management staff, to bite-sized 10-minute sessions designed for busy general managers, kitchen and bar staff. We cover key areas like operational efficiency, energy-saving behaviours, and carbon reduction. Our comprehensive training programs empower chefs, managers, and kitchen staff to adopt sustainable practices, improve decision-making, and make a tangible impact on energy performance across foodservice operations.
Hospitality Sustainability Certification (HSC)
Our Hospitality Sustainability Certification (HSC) training focuses on the unique energy challenges within foodservice operations. We provide in-depth content on energy-efficient equipment use, lifecycle management, and strategies for lowering operational costs while improving kitchen performance. Chefs and kitchen managers benefit from practical, data-driven insights into how their decisions can impact energy use and carbon emissions. The course can be delivered remotely via a learning management system accessible at the participants own pace or delivered as in-person lectures and workshops. This course equips your workforce to make more sustainable decisions and contribute to your organisation’s overall carbon reduction goals.
Carbon Literacy Training
As an accredited facilitator of the Carbon Literacy Project, we deliver tailored courses to help hospitality professionals become “carbon literate.” Our courses equip staff with the knowledge and tools to understand the differences between weather and climate, the evidence for climate change, and provide the ability for your employees to manage their personal and professional carbon footprints. Following the course, your staff will become “Carbon Literate” and will be able to hold their own when discussing climate change and carbon reduction with colleagues, clients and suppliers.
Workshops
Our workshops have engaged thousands of chefs, kitchen staff, and bar staff to change their energy-using habits. Through practical sessions, we help teams understand how small daily actions can result in substantial energy and cost savings. These workshops, built on years of experience, emphasise the role of people in energy performance and long-term carbon reduction and include everything from how to read your energy profile data, to how to set up a remote beer optimiser glycol timer.
Behavioural Change Programmes
We’ve won awards for our impactful behaviour change programs and saved well in excess of £1,000,000 over our 12-month campaigns. Campaigns, staff engagement and competitions are often overlooked in the tourism and hospitality sectors as “too difficult” to sustain with a high attrition, high turnover workforce. BUT a successful behaviour change campaign with long-term momentum built-in (and a good monitoring and verification plan to prove the results!) can be the highest return-on-investment project you’ve ever completed. Join our registered EnCO practitioner to discover how the right incentives, exciting interventions and carefully communicated nudges can come together to save millions of pounds worth of energy (and even help you keep hold of your talented labour!).
